Part 1: Transnasal Implants as an Alternative to Zygomatic Implants Zone 1

Part 2: The “Five Points” concept as an Alternative to Zygomatic Implants in Zone 2

Transnasal implants were developed in 2016 as an innovative surgical solution for addressing cases of atrophic maxillae in Zone 1, offering a simpler and predictable alternative compared to complex techniques like quad zygoma, using crista conchalis anchorage to obtain primary stability. This approach minimizes maxillary sinus-related complications and thread exposure, offering a less invasive solution. With step-by-step guidance, participants will refine surgical skills and expand treatment options for atrophic maxilla rehabilitation in Zone 1.

The 5-Point Protocol simplifies implant anchorage in the All-on-4 Standard, Palatal Approach, and Trans-sinus techniques, ensuring primary stability for immediate loading in atrophic maxillae in Zone 2. By positioning implants within five predefined naso-maxillary points, it maximizes bone engagement and minimizes the need for complex procedures like zygomatic implants in Zone 2.

Learning Objectives:

By the end of this hands-on session, participants will be able to:

  1. Understand the indications, anatomical landmarks, and biomechanical advantages of transnasal implants in Zone 1, as an alternative to traditional zygomatic implants;
  2. Apply the 'Five Points' Protocol in Zone 2, in order to simplify implant anchorage and ensure primary stability and immediate loading, as an alternative to zygomatic implants;
  3. Identify and mitigate potential complications associated with zygomatic and alternative implant techniques, ensuring safer and more predictable patient outcomes;
  4. Gain hands-on experience with high-fidelity models, refining surgical skills to confidently implement these innovative approaches in clinical practice.
